Mission to Pakistan to Advise the Aga Khan Housing Board
The GB Housing Loan Programme has developed out of the Grameen Bank project which was started in 1976 to raise the incomes and the standard of living of the most disadvantaged sections of the rural community in Bangladesh through providing access to credit.

This paper demonstrates how the design of standards; pricing and finance must be integrated if affordable housing is to be achieved in a sustainable and replicable way. The paper does this by identifying basic principles in achieving affordability and applying these principles through a simple; computer-based integrated-design model to a ‘model’ housing project in Pakistan.
Affordable Housing: Integrating Planning Standards; Pricing and Finance in Pakistan
The mission travelled to Pakistan in order to assess the needs for assistance in the reconstruction of homes in war-affected areas of Pakistan. The focus was on the resistance-held areas of the country. Mission members also spent one week in the Afghan capital Kabul; to discuss revisions to a building research project with government officials.
